These changes include a new highly effective superintendent (Jim DuBois), engaged board discussions, no more illegal executive sessions hiding the public's business behind closed doors, no more unilateral decisions like the Chandler Elementary closure, everyone (school board, admin, teachers and students) held to a higher standard, an expectation and process for real student achievement improvements, new board policies, a new well rounded strategic vision, better school cultures and workplace environment through improved leadership, and a fiscally responsible budget with no new referendum. How was this done? By living out a simple commitment from day one: be someone everyone can trust, even when they disagree—because integrity is for everyone.
